Writer's picture: Carol BlackCarol Black

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of a music legend, Tina Turner, who left us today. Over the course of her illustrious career, Turner not only broke barriers but also continually redefined what it meant to be a female artist in the music industry. Her dynamic performances, unique style, and unmistakable voice have left an indelible impact on pop and rock music.

Born Anna Mae Bullock, she adopted the stage name Tina Turner as her career took off in the mid-1950s alongside her then-husband Ike Turner. After overcoming tumultuous personal circumstances, Turner's solo career in the 1980s was a testament to her resilience and unyielding spirit. Her blockbuster album "Private Dancer" became a symbol of her triumphant comeback, and the hit single "What's Love Got To Do With It" secured her place in music history.

Turner's electrifying stage presence and powerful vocals made her one of the most compelling live performers ever to grace the stage. She was rightly dubbed the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll," earning numerous awards and accolades, including eight Grammy Awards and a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Beyond her music, Turner's life story has been a source of inspiration for many. Her autobiography "I, Tina" and the subsequent biopic "What's Love Got To Do With It" shed light on her personal struggles and her incredible journey towards self-empowerment and success.

While her loss is deeply felt, Tina Turner's legacy continues to resonate. She taught us to be resilient, to never settle, and to express ourselves with unapologetic boldness. Through her music and her life, she showed us what it truly means to be a "Proud Mary." We bid a sad farewell to a true icon, and our thoughts are with her family, friends, and fans worldwide.

Rest in Power, Tina Turner. Your music and your spirit will continue to shine brightly, reminding us all to keep on rolling.
